School has been keeping me busy lately, but here are some of the projects that I have completed recently! 

I made my own pennant stamp out of a rubber cork.

I used the pennant paper to write Philippians 1:6 on it

My dessert the other night: Gala apples with smoked Gouda slices.. yum! (not really a project, but I had fun arranging the plate!)

Happy Valentine's Day! I got to celebrate a little early because I was home visiting my family and boyfriend over the weekend, but here are some of the wonderful DIY projects I am currently in love with (more on my wonderful family and boyfriend later today, when I get around to uploading the pictures from this weekend!)

Craftiness

I was feeling a little crafty last night and decided to whip up some paper airplanes :) I was inspired by this post on Smile and Wave- Rachel made paper airplane valentine notes for her husband. So sweet!

So here is what I whipped up in 20 minutes while watching TV....

Fall Fashion Update

As a college student, funds aren't always readily available to update my wardrobe for the changing of the seasons. The sad part is, I LOVE fall colors like mustard, rust, garnet and dark green that you just don't wear in summer.  So I decided to stashbust a little and create some brooches that incorporate some new colors!

 For the garnet flower, I used this tutorial but I backed it with a paperboard circle instead of a baby food jar lid (no babies to eat the baby food! haha)

For the braided flowers, I based it on this tutorial but added a little twist of my own and used t-shirt strips instead of fabric.

And I just made up the button one as I went along!

I will post pictures when I wear them! I can't wait for it to get colder than 95 degrees in the afternoon and feel like fall!

Foodie Friday (and Saturday)

Sorry this post is up late!

My Foodie Friday was delicious! I helped my friend move out of her apartment for the summer and she treated me to this delicious little Mexican restaurant, El Burrito, in 5 Points and it was just the perfect lunch.  The food was cheap, tasty and quick! And, there were tons and tons of limes. Limes are the BEST with Mexican food, and they are a personal favorite of mine. Did you know that limes taste good in sweet tea? They do ♥

Also, another friend and I went to Fruiti Cup for frozen yogurt to celebrate almost being done with finals and to walk around in the pretty day.  Mine was amazing- kiwi frozen yogurt, chocolate frozen yogurt, kiwis, chocolate cookie dough, a little bit of brownie, and mangoes. Mmmm!

Later, I got crafty and made felt dahlias with this tutorial and made one for me and the other two for gifts. Sooo easy, and I used hot glue to make it easier and held the petals down with clothespins.

What do you think? I can't wait to make them into brooches once I get the pins! Oh, if you make them, make note of the scale! The yellow one, that followed the instructions, fills the palm of my hand is a little more whimsical, but the blue one is a little smaller. Just play with the size of the back circle!

Other Crafty Things

Yesterday,  I went to go modify a pretty plain black dress I got from Wal-Mart for $3, but I tried it on and the top tried to pull the whole dress up a couple of inches. So I just cut the cool bottom off and now I have a new skirt!

T-shirt Surgery

As a college student, I realized that I have so many t-shirts from all sorts of random things and I don't ever wear t-shirts. So, I found a tutorial online and made one grey shirt into something new! Well, 2 new things! 

I used this tutorial and modified it a bit, because the loops made the necklace REALLY long on me.

And modified this tutorial. I used fabric glue and a little bit of thread to keep the ends together, because I knotted the ends because I don't have a sewing machine at school and improvised.

Weekend Crafts

I had a lot of fun with my felt stash this weekend! Here is what I made:

Felt bows for hair clips and clothespins

I used this tutorial to make them and it was SO easy! I also made my own to imitate a bow that I have on a headband from Delia's, but in blue felt.

First: Cut two equal width strips of felt but one a little shorter than the other. You can always shorten, so make sure you over cut at first!

Second: Make each a loop and glue the ends together with fabric glue on the outside and on the inside.

Step 3: Use a dot of fabric glue to hold the 2 loops together.

Step 4: Cut a thinner step that will go around the middle and glue the ends together on the backside. Keep together with a clothespin so that the fabric glue can dry and bond the fabric together.

Then you're done! Admire your handiwork!

Also,  I made my own magnets out of recycled free magnets and pictures off of an ad postcard from Paulo's Gelato in Charleston.

I ended up using tacky glue (spray) instead because it was easier!

Spray the magnet, put your pictures on and let it dry according to the label. 

Cut it out! You're done!
