Resolution: Find Organization that Works

In an attempt to be organized and simplify my life, I picked up a new planner and calendar.  It just feels good to start the new year with new organization and starting fresh.

I love the planner because its large enough to write notes in comfortably and its super cute. The calendar is more organized because each month tears off into a file folder. Yay!

Oh, and to help the lovely ladies on my hall keep track of me when they need me, I made a little "Where am I?" board.

Its also part of me using my crafty supplies instead of just hoarding them! I personally love it.

And I'm working hard to organize my desk area, so pictures to come soon! How do you stay organized?

Resolutions

Just like almost everyone, I've got some New Years' resolutions that I want to work on to make my life better and hopefully simplify it and increase my impact on others. Also, I hope that blogging this will keep me more accountable. So here they are!
  • Thank people more- especially getting thank you notes out more promptly
  • Take more pictures with people (and me!) in them
  • Wash my dishes at least every other day
  • Exercise at least 2 times a week
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Drink more water
  • Find an organization strategy that works for ME
  • Learn how to wait patiently
  • Read at least 1 non-school book a month
  • Blogging more regularly
I hope that these become a larger part of my life and that I won't have to remind myself to do these after a little bit into 2011. I hope that my resolutions will improve the quality of my life this year.  I also hope your resolutions are going well, if you made any, because we are already 11 days into 2011.  Eek!

SNOW DAY!

Last night, our campus was given a little treat by the University- this lovely message on the website:

Because of winter weather conditions, the University of South Carolina Columbia campus will be closed Monday, Jan. 10.

HOW WONDERFUL! So our first day of classes was not filled with syllabuses and new classmates, but snowball fights, snowmen and hot chocolate with friends.

Not mine, but still hysterical. There was another one that looked like a huge gummy bear, too.

Yes, a significant amount of snow in COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA. Its wonderful.  And we're all crossing our fingers that the icy conditions will delay/cancel classes tomorrow too! But we can only hope at this point.

Yay for snow! Its just so pretty because it'll melt before it gets nasty!

Hello!

Its been a lot longer than I anticipated getting back blog-land after Christmas- one of my best friends got married on New Years Day so the week before was a little crazy and then I left to come back to school on Wednesday in the early morning. It was crazy once I got here with training and getting the residence hall ready for my lovely ladies on my hall and I've been reorganizing and getting settled in for classes on Monday. Its making me just a little tired just reading through everything I've been up to!

But the last couple of weeks have been so wonderful- I've spent a lot of time with my family and my boyfriend's family, it snowed (in Charleston, SC so a BIG deal) the day after Christmas, spending time with my newly-married friend before the wedding and packing to see all of my wonderful friends here at school. Oh, and baking and cooking a lot.

Here are some pictures!

One of my pairs of fingerless gloves that I got for Christmas- I adore them!

The view from the house where the bridesmaids got ready before the wedding- on the river in Charleston

That was the last of the pictures that I took at the wedding- we had such a great time and didn't have time for pictures! When I get a hold of some of the pictures my friends took, I'll post them here! The whole wedding was just so special and the newlyweds were just so fun to watch- their love was so apparent, it was tear-provoking!

Other than the wedding, packing up and then unpacking have taken over my life, but I'll be posting more regularly now that my schedule is back to normalcy. Have a wonderful day!
